It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Rita Blanche Fiddler after a brief illness. Mom passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 17 from River Park Memorial Chapel - 301 River Street West. Margaret Ferchuk will officiate. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 18 from Sacred Heart Cathedral - 1401 4th Avenue West by Father Maurice Fiolleau. Left to mourn her passing are her children Garry (Danielle) Fiddler, Lawrence (Tracey) Fiddler and Cindy (Garth) Wenbourne; her five grandchildren Kevin, Tiler, Natalie, Mikaila and Tanner; her sister Irene Ross and brother Roger Fiddler along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Batoche, SK on April 6, 1938 to Bruno and Ida (nee Pilon) Fiddler. As a young woman Mom moved to Prince Albert and joined her sister Gertie, her husband Joe Basaraba and their family of nine children. Soon Mom met Lawrence Vermette and had three children of her own, making it twelve children who all grew up together as brothers and sisters. Mom enjoyed spending time with family, playing Bingo, playing crib, poker, watching her favorite "soaps" and cooking for her family. Mom especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were very special to her. She enjoyed talking, laughing and teasing them. Mom was predeceased by her spouse Lawrence Vermette: her parents Bruno and Ida (nee Pilon) Fiddler; her brothers Leo, Ralph, August, Eddie, Amie and Tony; he sisters Gertie, Theresa and Nettie; her special sister-in-law Colleen Fiddler; her nephews Randy Fiddler and Jerry Basaraba. She was also predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Rita was a very loving and generous person always putting everyone else before herself and giving all she had to give. She loved and spoiled her grandchildren and they loved her so much in return. Rita was loved and respected by all her family and will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. We love you Always. Interment will take place at South Hill Cemetery. It is the family's request that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association - #104 - 2301 Avenue C. North, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5.
