It is with deep regret we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather on June 16, 2010, in the strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Born October 15, 1924, in Springton, P.E.I., he was the son of the late Steven and Elenor (Adams) Thompson.
A veteran of the Second World War, serving with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, on Continental Europe.
His love of bagpipes and traditional Cape Breton music, curling, golf and tending his yard and garden were life-long enjoyments.
Gordon was a member of St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury, and Solomon Lodge No. 46, Port Hawkesbury.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Laura (Gillis); son, Barry (Denise); daughter, Cathy (Rocky) MacRae; grandchildren, David, Craig and Hayley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Bracken, James, Herbert, Peter and Ralph; sisters, Lila (Anderson) and Gladys, in infancy; brother-in-law and best friend, Larry Anderson.
Resting 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Green's Funeral Home, 507 Bernard Street, Port Hawkesbury.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from St. Mark's United Church, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow presiding, burial to follow in South Brook Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners, Hartsville Cemetery, Hartsville, P.E.I., or a charity of choice.
