Lieu de décès : Canada
It is with deep sadness that the family announce the death of a good man and wonderful father, James Gerald Curry Doyle, son of the late Harold J. B. and Barbara (Merchant) Doyle, which occurred on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.
Jim was employed by Dominion Coal Company and served on the boards of Steel Centre Credit Union and Children's Aid Society. Jim generously lent a hand to help those who needed it. He loved to skate with Marie and to bowl with friends from the office. He relished being in touch with nature, especially at Corney Brook, Black Brook and the cottage in Big Pond. Jim was a resident of Spanish Bay, Harbourstone for the past five years. There he received excellent care from a truly compassionate staff, for which the family will always be grateful. He also enjoyed the friendship and support of caregivers, residents and relatives and friends who took time to visit him regularly.
He is survived by daughters Anne Marie (Joe) Gillis, Sydney; Barbara (Jim) Perkins, Fredericton, NB; sons, Gerry (Sharen), Breckin, ON and Joe (Nancy), Sydney. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Joanne (Scott) Thorne and Graeme Gillis, Brendan (Barbara) and Bryan (Jen) White, Corrina (Joseph) Thompson and James (Shelley) Doyle; Matthew, Carla and Stephen Doyle and their mother Alixe Doyle, as well as eight great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by one sister Kaye (Pat) Fitzgerald.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Stella Marie (MacDonald) Doyle in 1997; four brothers, Harry, Joe, Frank and Terrence; by four sisters Margaret Foley, Eveleen Cullen and Barbara Gough and Mary in childhood and by three great grandchildren in infancy.
Visitation for James Doyle will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel (today) Friday, June 18, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Anthony O'Connor officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
The family will host a reception which will be held at the Lyceum Building, immediately after Mass, with the family returning from Resurrection Cemetery in 30 minutes.
In memory of Dad, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, Alzheimer's Society or a charity of choice.
