It is with great sadness that we tell you that our beautiful Dorothy, wife of Murray Allan, left our family on June 20, 2010. Dottie was born on June 30, 1921, daughter of late Foster Fletcher and Janet Marshall (Carle) Duval. Dottie attended local schools and graduated from Saint John High School in 1939 and from Saint John Vocational School in 1942 after taking courses in Home Economics and Business. She was a former member of Germain St. Baptist Church where she and Murray were married August 30, 1952. Adherent of Crawford Park United Church, Verdun, Quebec, from 1952 to 1967 where she was a choir member and Explorer leader - Edgewood United, Halifax, NS, 1967-1968 - member of Hillcrest Baptist 1968-1983 - leader of Pioneer Girls, choir member and Womens' Missionary Society. Adherent of Evangel Pentecostal Church, Montreal and choir member 1983-1989. Returned to Saint John in 1989 to Hillcrest Baptist and her choir and WMS and senior Keenagers group. Dottie volunteered at the Imperial Theatre as an usher and ticket taker and enjoyed every minute. She was honoured to have her name in lights on the marquee for her 80th birthday in June, 2001. Dottie was an avid bowler, a hospital volunteer and was a member of the Philip A. Jerguson, Chapter 18, Order of the Eastern Star. Dottie enjoyed her summers at Crystal Beach. Dottie is survived by her husband Murray, daughters Wendy Faith Murphy (Michael) and Wanda Hope Beesley-Haddow (Paul), grandchildren Alina (Murphy) Cartwright (Darren), Ryan and Shelagh Murphy, Alexander Binsley and great-granddaughters Laura and Avery Cartwright, brother Donald Duval, cousins, nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, Dottie was predeceased sister Roberta (Duval) Green, brothers George and Carle Duval, and nephew Bruce Green.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701) with visiting on Monday, from 7 - 9p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a Tribute Service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m from Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment in Long Reach United Cemetery. Immediately following the service, a time of fellowship will follow in the Church Hall.
