Emma I. (Steeves) Fewer, 94, of Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton, with her son at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Born in Bass River, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Starrak) Murphy. Emma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Church, a former member of the U.C.W., past member of M.C.A. Curling Club and past member of the Moncton Art Society. Emma will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sylvia LeBlanc (Frank), Bass River; son, Lawson Steeves (Susan), Moncton; grandchildren, Andrew (Jennifer), Craig (Ann), Michele Brown (Glen), Dean (Joanne); great grandchildren, Lawson, Sarah, Blaire, Myles, Courtney; sisters-in-law, Anna Gallivan and Sally Murphy; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Lawson A. Steeves (1984), second husband, Claude B. Fewer (2009); sisters, Rosslyn, Cornelia; brothers, Morrin, Yorke, Scott, George and Jim.
In keeping with Emma's wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Celebration of Life Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Monday, June 28, 2010, 11:00 am, Rev. Dr. Philip Griffin-Allwood officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
