Joseph Jamieson passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Glace Bay, Joe was a son of John and Mary Jamieson.
Joe received his early education in Glace Bay and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University Class of 1933. Joe served as postmaster in Antigonish and Glace Bay during his working years. Joe was a member of St. Anne’s and Holy Cross parish.
Joe is survived by his son, Joey (Velda) and daughter, Elaine (Frank). Joe will also missed by his many grand and great-grandchildren as they all enjoyed many happy and fun days with grandpa Joe.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife Virginia, daughter, Lily and son-in-law, Joe Phalen, four brothers, Lauchie, Richard, John and Neil, three sisters, Mary, Kitty and Addie.
The family wish to express heart felt thanks to Joe’s grandson John Phalen for the care and time extended on Joe’s behalf during the many years Joe was in poor health.
Visitation will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay; followed by Funeral Mass of Resurrection in Holy Cross Church at 11 a.m. Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to one’s charity of choice.
