Mildred Effie Nelson, 82, of Truro, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 16, 2009, at her home.
Born in Cape Bear, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Eunice (Gordon) MacNeill.
Mildred was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of First Baptist Church, Truro.
She was a dear mother to Ron (Susan) Nelson and Karen (Terry) Leverich; loving grandchildren Donnie (Michele) Nelson, Matthew (Rachelle) Gamble, John and Kate Gamble; great-grandchildren Grace and Mae Nelson; sisters Minetta Head, June (Herb) Glover; sister-in-law Barbara MacNeill; a niece and several nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Bob Nelson; a special friend Jack Searle; sister Marion White; brother Lauchie MacNeill.
No visitation by request. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, Ladies Auxiliary will conduct an Auxiliary Tribute Service on Wednesday May 20, at 1:30, followed by the funeral service, all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Rev. Andy Crowell will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. A private family burial will follow in Watson Cemetery, Truro.
Donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Hospice Society- Colchester East Hants.
