Arthur N. Christie of Christie Ridge, NB passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Arthur was born at Christie Ridge on September 11, 1927, a son of the late Roy and Mary (Cleghorn) Christie. He worked for many years as a carpenter and was also employed with the railroad in the yard and then worked in the woods. Arthur engaged in many activities throughout his time, being a member of the McAdam Legion where he played on the dart team for years. He enjoyed hunting, target practice, gardening, making wreaths in the fall and tinkering on his car in the garage. His biggest joy was time spent with his family and chatting up a storm with friends. He is survived by his wife, Alice M. (Spinney) Christie; his daughters, Eileen Cairns (Marc) and Jennifer Toner (George), both of Harvey, NB; his grandchildren, Tara Toner, Harvey, NB, Alissa Cairns, Calgary, AB and Derek Toner, Harvey, NB; his great grandchildren, Denver and Chantal; a sister, Mary Noble, St. Stephen, NB and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Herney and Phyllis Roberts and four brothers, Norton, Earl, Roy and Ronnie Christie.
A graveside service will be held at Harvey Settlement Cemetery on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Clark officiating.
