It is with great sadness that, we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and brother, James Edward 'Jim' Connolly, 81, of Cleary Avenue, North Sydney, on Monday June 28, 2010, at home.
Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Fred and Bridget (LeMoine) Connolly.
Jim was employed as a stevedore with CN Marine and later with Marine Atlantic until his retirement. He was well known throughout town and would often be seen walking his dog 'Caper'.
Surviving are his children, Albert (Leanne) Connolly, Brantford, Ont., Jim (Lindalea) Connolly, North Sydney, Bridget (Eric) Roesler, Pembroke Ont., Yvonne (Robert) Clissold, Oshawa, Ont., Joe (Dee) Connolly, Brantford, Ont., Jason (Nadine) Connolly, Sydney Mines; stepdaughter, Shirley (Willard) Keeping, Bridgeport, N.S.; sisters, Mary Haste, Louise LeMoine, Lucy (Cecil) Horton, Sandra MacKinnon, all of North Sydney, Gladys Gillis, Scotch Lake; brother, Bill (Heather) Connolly, North Sydney; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ann (Richards) Connolly in 2009, daughter, Josephine, granddaughters, Jennifer Keeping and Jane Connolly, brother, Fred Connolly.
Visitation to be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday July 2 in the W. J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday , July 3, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev Carl Fraser officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
