It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elsie McKay announces her passing on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, sons: Larry (Joan), and Bruce of Corner Brook; daughters: Mary Rennie Canning of Hamilton, ON, Barbara Bennett (Leo) of Corner Brook, Linda Spears of Corner Brook, Diane Gullage (Brian) of Wabush, Margaret Saulnier (Reg) of Truro, NS, Paulette (Chevrier) of Dartmouth, NS; sister: Genevieve Gabriel (Walter) of Sydney, NS; 31 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband John ‘Jack’ (1997), parents Cashmere and Sarah Canning, sisters Josephine O’Rourke, Margaret Cormier and Elizabeth Mischaude, brother Vince Canning, and granddaughter Lillian Piscopo. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Curling with Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the family or to the charity of one’s choice.
