STELLARTON - Virginia Frances Mitchell, age 93, formerly of Stellarton, died peacefully, on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Ontario.
Virgie was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Savage) Mitchell of Jubilee Ave., Stellarton.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Kathleen (McGinnis), Lucy, Claire (MacNeil), Helen, Adele (Gillis), Blanche (Kane), Sheila (MacDonnell); and brothers: Bill, Gerald and Cyril; nieces: Susan (Kirk), Peggy (Charlebois) and Margie (Turnbull).
Following her retirement from Air Canada, Virgie was active in various ministries at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed travelling and until her health declined made yearly visits to the Maritimes. Virgie is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Toronto on March 12, 2010.
A public graveside service will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Cemetery on Thursday July 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at 412 Brookside Ave., New Glasgow, from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 8.
If desired, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 240 Church Street, Toronto, Ont., M5B 1Z2 or to a charity of choice.
