Charles Alexander Chapman of Rothesay, devoted husband of 57 years to Jacqueline (de Boissiere) Chapman, passed away at home, Sunday, July 4, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 17, 1922, on the Island of St. Vincent, West Indies to the late Frederick and Clara (Bailey) Chapman. Charles worked for Irving Oil Refinery for many years retiring in the 1980's. Upon retirement he returned to the Islands of St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago every year where he enjoyed the winter months with family and old friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was a member of the choir for close to 30 years.
Besides his loving wife Jackie, Charles is survived by his sons Charles (Denise Parker) of Belleisle, NB, Dr. Michael (Carol) of Kingston, NB and Andrew (Terry) of Bermuda; daughters Arlene Ehrlich (Jack) of Texas and Patricia Wright (David) of Hampton; brother Edgerton (Jean) of Bolton, ON and sister Clara Corea of Kingston, ON; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). At the family's request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Rd., Rothesay, NB on Saturday, July 10th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. Private family interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations, in memory of Charles can be made to the Extramural Program, Hospice of Greater Saint John or the charity of the donor's choice.
