In Loving Memory of Carol Annie Welch
Carol Welch (née McAloney) was born in River Hebert, Nova Scotia on September 23, 1941 and passed away at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, British Columbia on May 18, 2009 after a lengthy illness with cancer. She was 67 years of age. Carol is survived by her daughter Connie (James) Sallenbach, and their children Baylee and Travis, of Vavenby, BC; son Leroy (Carmen) Welch and their daughter Madison, of Sechelt, BC; sisters Helen (Clarence) Adshade, June Fletcher, Maggie (Richard) May, and Betty (Dennis) Gamble, all of Nova Scotia; brothers Layton (Jeanette) McAloney and Carvel (Barb) McAloney, of Nova Scotia and Bobby (Debbie) McAloney of Ontario. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved dog, Archie. Carol was predeceased by her son, Charles Kevin Welch of Nova Scotia; her parents Tremont Guy and Edith Lillian McAloney of Nova Scotia; sister Beverley Gillis of Nova Scotia; and by her brothers-in-law Duncan Gillis and Everett Fletcher, of Nova Scotia.
Carol moved from Nova Scotia to BC in 1963. In 1965, she settled in Clearwater, BC and raised her family. Carol did many jobs during her career, mainly in the forest industry and for the school district, until her retirement two years ago. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, her dog Archie, playing bingo, and going to yard sales with her neighbour Veronica.
A Memorial Service for Carol Welch will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Elks Hall on Old North Thompson Highway, Clearwater, BC. Lloyd Strickland, Minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Clearwater. Family and friends will then gather back at the Elks Hall for refreshments and to share memories of Carol.
