It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Bridget MacDonald, 88, of McLellan Heights, formerly of 3345 Pellatt Ave., New Waterford, on July 8, 2010, at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Victoria, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Molly (Ayre) Hennessey. She was a member of the former Mount Carmel Church and currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard.
Fran loved being in the presence of family and devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. One of her greatest passions was playing the piano for her family and friends and each key on the piano represents each year of her life. We will never forget her warm heart and precious smile and how she loved to have some fun with her family.
Surviving are children, Doreen (Brian) Sutcliffe, Dartmouth, Joseph (Marie) MacDonald, New Waterford, Carol Ann (Gary) MacPherson, Moncton, Alice Marie (Michael) Chiasson, Linda (David) McMullin, both of Dartmouth, Lynn Hillier, New Waterford, Debby (Sid) Murray, Lingan; brothers, Gerald (Phil) Hennessey, New Victoria, David (Marie) Hennessey, Trenton, N.S.; sisters, Mary Chiasson, Sydney, Margaret (Henry) Seward, Coquitlam, Vancouver, Dolores (Frank) MacNeil, New Victoria; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband Joe; son, David; sister, Alice; brother, Dennis; son-in-law, John.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Fran will take place Monday, July 12 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the VON, Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, or a charity of one's choice.
