October 11, 1920 - May 19, 2009. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Leo Christopher, at the Agnes Pratt Home, at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his wife Loretta, parents Tom and Annie Christopher, brothers Tony and Felix and granddaughter Sandra Hunter-Curtis. Left with fond and loving memories are his three daughters: Dorothy Hunter (Rex), Betty Bartlett (Dave), Sandra Morgan (Angus); special granddaughter Cindy (Greg Bonia); sister Betty Christopher; sister-in-law Catherine Power; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Leo was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Corpus Christi Parish. He served with the Newfoundland Regiment on Bell Island during WWII and later joined Home Affairs and the Canadian Army Reserve. He also worked as an accountant with Parks Canada. He retired as Director of Administration of the Provincial Department of Culture, Recreation and Youth. Special thanks for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Leo by the staff of the Stella Burry Unit, Agnes Pratt Home. Visitation will be at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Thursday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church.
