RUSSELL, Judy Lee - 65, East Mountain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday evening, July 12, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, following a courageous eight month battle with cancer. Born February 2, 1945, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Margaret "Lassie" (Irving) Hennigar. Judy worked as school secretary at East Court Road Elementary and Bible Hill Central Elementary from where she retired in 2005. She enjoyed bowling on Monday afternoons with the 55+ league and was also an active member of Curves, Bible Hill. Judy always made time for coffee and lunch dates with her friends and doing crossword puzzles. Her canine companion, Molly, will miss her dearly. Judy is survived by her son, Clinton Russell, East Mountain; daughter, Kyla Russell, Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Sherry Bradford, St. George, New Brunswick; Gail Hennigar, Bonnie Russell, Truro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Along with her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Brian D. Russell; brothers, Dale and Norman Hennigar. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Bruce Phillips, Ann McKim and the Palliative Care Team and all the nursing staff of 4 East, Colchester Regional Hospital, for their care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Judy's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating.
