Roma Marie Hickey (McClean) - It is with a deep sense of loss, but with many fond memories that we announce the passing of Roma Marie Hickey, at the age of 63. Daughter of the late Helen and Kenneth McClean, she will be greatly missed by her husband Gregory, children Julie Hickey-Barraclough (Shawn), Michael, and Heather, grandchildren Emily and Noah, siblings Anna Marie Young (Richard), Lani Hamilton, Penny Horne (Bruce) and Kenneth McClean (Margaret), as well as many other family members and dear friends. Though she was slowly robbed of her physical faculties, her spirit and strength of character never faltered. She bravely met the ever-growing challenges of each new day with unrivaled positivity, good-natured affability, warmth, and grace. She set an example for us all. We wish to thank all those who helped Roma and family through her illness. We would especially like to thank Drs. David Flower and Scott Worley, and the wonderful staff of both the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation and the NB Extra-Mural Program for their professional, empathic, and compassionate care. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the palliative care specialists and 4-NW ward staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital who provided great care and comfort through the final stages of Roma's illness. A gathering of family and friends will be held in memory of Roma on Friday July 23, 2010 from 1 to 4 pm at the Odell Park Lodge in Fredericton.
