It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Florence (Lonse) Pero on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.
Florence was a lifelong resident of 240 Main St., Florence, and was the daughter of the late John and Doris (Clarke) Royal.
She was a member of Wilson United Church, Florence. She was employed for many years with H.B. Nickerson & Sons & Leonard Bros. fish plant, North Sydney. She was an avid bingo and card player.
She is survived by two daughters, Jessie (Kevin) Dohanty, Florence, and Margaret Rose (Gerard) Brault, Kitchener, Ont. Also surviving are her brother, Arthur; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, brothers, John, George, Samuel and Hayward, and sisters, Margaret, Elizabeth, Vivian, Levina, Eva and Lena.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wilson United Church, Florence, with Rev. Norma Mills officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Miners Memorial Manor, the Seniors Day Care Program at Harbour View Hospital or the United Church Building Fund.
