ASHTON - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Winnifred Frances Ashton on May 15, 2009, at the Swift Current Care Center at the age of 90 years. Winnifred leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Vivian (Ralph) Aurat, Aldergrove, BC, Linda (Dave) Flack, Swift Current, SK, Brenda (John) Deagle, Leduc, AB; sons, Bill (Barbara) Ashton, Edmonton, AB, Frank (Kathy) Ashton, Swift Current, SK; daughter-in-law, Shawna Ashton; sister-in-law, Rose McKay; grandchildren, Rex, Connie, Tammie, Darren, Jason, Chris, Carrie, Derek, Devin, Trampas, Jamie; great grandchildren, Kurtis, Sheena, Kyle, Conner, Teagan, Rylan, Kala Rae, Micheal, Miya, Nathan, Chad, Sheldon, Abigail; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; son, Sam; daughter, Marjorie; grandson, Greg; parents, Alec and Agnes; brothers, Harry and Albert; and sisters, Violet, Anesta and Margorie. Winnifred was born in Vancouver, BC, and moved with her family to Warburg, AB, for her childhood. After marrying Thomas they moved to the Beverly area where she raised their six children. After retirement she moved into Heritage Towers in Swift Current and later into the Swift Current Care Center until her passing. A funeral service was held on Monday, May 18, at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Johnston officiating. Active pallbearers were Rob Corey, Jim Ashton, Percy Ashton, Richard Ashton, Dwayne Collier, and Harry Ashton. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Lind and Ernie Corey. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current. Anyone wishing may make memorial donations to the Swift Current Care Center Auxiliary, Swift Current, SK.
