Claudine Gertrude Almon, 88, a resident of Taigh Na Mara passed away May 21, 2009.
Born May 7, 1921 in Donkin, N.S., she was a daughter of the late William and Gertie (Hart) Oldford. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, N.S.
Claudia will be sadly missed by her husband of 71 years, Joseph; her daughters, Valerie (Jack) Ferguson and Joanne Almon and her sons, Wayne (Miriam), Roy (Karen) and Joel, as well as grandchildren, Valerie Jean Ferguson (Dan C. MacNeil), Kari Ferguson and John Aaron Ferguson (Ashley George), Michael Hannon, Roy Almon Jr., Colleen (Andy) Johnson and Coralee (Robby) Burrows and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Edna MacPherson, Eileen MacPherson, Annie Matheson, Muriel Duffett and Ada Fudge; brother, Norman Oldford and sisters-in-law, Annie MacNeil and Grace Oldford.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Allison Laurel Ferguson in infancy; a sister, Beulah Cavers and brothers, Leslie, Albert and Joseph Oldford.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009 in Patten’s Funeral Home, followed at 2 p.m. by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetry, Glace Bay, N.S.
Donations in Claudia’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of choice.
