The passing of Russell Eugene McLaughlin formerly of 777 McLaren Avenue occurred at the York Care Centre on Monday, July 20, 2010. Born in 1925 at Acton Settlement, NB, he was the son of the late Eden Arthur and Bessie (Dykeman) McLaughlin. Russell was a long time member of St. Paul's United Church in Fredericton. He was a retired firefighter from the City of Fredericton.
Russell is survived by two daughters, Coreen and Sharon (Danny) both of Fredericton; three grandchildren, Lee and Scot Cogswell of Fredericton and Trinda Cogswell (Mike) of Lake George; brother, Donald (Barb) of Smithfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Doris Moore and brother-in-law, Carl Caverhill. Besides his parents and loving wife, Ada, he was predeceased by his son, Ivan; brother, Stanley; sisters-in-law, Eveline Dunlay and Dora Caverhill; brothers-in-law, Ralph Dunlay and Hedley Moore.
As per Russell's wishes his body will be donated to medical research at the Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS. There will be no memorial services at his request. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
