It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (McConville) and James Devoe.
Mom was a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, St. Ann’s Bay. While living in Halifax, she was a member of St. Michael’s CWL and organized many pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupré with her best friend Helen.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann-Dolores (Bruce) MacDonald; son, James (Lynn); grandchildren, Tara (Ian) Mercer, Shauna (Andrew Doyle), Kyle (Michelle), J.R. (Laurie), Sean (Holly-Anne), Erin and great-grandchildren, Bruce and Taylor. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary (Nick) Viva, Clare (John) Cousins; brothers, Arnold, John and best friends, Helen and Doug Pyke.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael in 1984, children, Patrick, Joseph, John, Barbara, brothers, Michael, John, James and Gerard, sisters, Mary-Catherine and Phedelma and stepfather, Neil Morrison.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, on Tuesday at 3 p.m. with Rev. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Interment will be held at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, N.S.
