Cornelius Tschetter

TSCHETTER - It is with sadness that the family of Cornelius Tschetter of Swift Current, SK, announces his passing on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Cypress Regional Hospital after suffering a massive stroke on the week previous. Cornelius was born on February 9, 1930, at Neville, SK, to Isaac and Katherina Tschetter. He grew up on a farm south of Neville, the second youngest of six children. He married Anne Kehler on June 2, 1957, and they continued to farm in the Neville area, operating a grain and cattle farm. He was a very hard worker, often working from sunrise to sunset. In 1986, they moved to Swift Current to retire. However, he had always enjoyed farming, so he regularly drove to the farm to help. Cornelius was a soft-spoken man who lived his faith through his activities. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne, in November of 2009, after which he moved to Riverview Estates. During his six months there he was so often referred to as a kind and gentle man. As his family, we are thankful to the Staff and fellow residents who helped his adjust during his short time there. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Loreen Wiebe of Swift Current, SK, and her daughter, Carolynn; his son Lionel (Matilda) Tschetter of Neville, SK, and their children Tim, Brian, and Karlee; his son Clarence (Brenda) Tschetter of Neville, SK, and their children Craig, Chris, Dustin and Jaelynn. He is survived by his sisters Anna Tschetter of Swift Current, Helen (John) Olfert of Swift Currnet; brother George (Suzie) Tschetter of Rhineland, SK; and brother-in-law Henry Friesen of Kelowna, BC; brothers and sisters-in-law on his wife's side as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cornelius was predeceased by his father in 1984; his mother in 2001; sister Agnes Friesen in 2008; sister Kathryn Danyluk in 2009; and brother-in-law Metro Danyluk in 2002. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 1:00 pm from the Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK, with Rev. Martin Harder officiating. The pianist for the service was Dianne Janzen. "It is Well With My Soul", "Savoir Like a Shepherd Lead Us" were sung by the congregation under the direction of Glorybound. Special music was brought by Glorybound. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Tom Olfert, Brad Olfert, Marlin Olfert, Gary Tschetter, Craig Tschetter and Tim Tschetter. In memory of Cornelius Tschetter, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Swift Current Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
