Stewart Skinner Best of St. Stephen passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on July 23, 2010. Stewart was born in Saint John on October 13th, 1916 son of the late Arthur Best and Agnes (Ellis) Best. He was a veteran of WW II where he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following the war he was employed as a Customs Officer with Canada Customs and Immigration. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9.
Stewart will be sadly missed by his wife Irene (Gilbert) Best of 58 years, son, Stewart (Andrea) Best of Rollingdam, daughters; Karen (Robert) Armstrong of Stanley, Janet (George) McAuley of St. Stephen, grandchildren; Katrina Lister, Shannon Thompson, Ryan Best, Jack Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Nicole Armstrong, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents Stewart was predeceased by his brothers; Ralph Best, Royden Best, sisters; Phyllis Davies, Thelma Sharkey and Marion Fitzpatrick.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview Chapel" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701). Visitation was held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 2-4 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at "Fallsview Chapel". Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
