The death of Robert (Bob) Wallace of Miramichi, NB occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Born in Hainesville, NB on February 11, 1919, he was the son of the late Howard and May (Blaney) Wallace. Bob is survived by: his wife: Doreen (Eden) Wallace, daughter Barbara Bell (David) of Sudbury, ON, son Bruce (Margie) of Miramichi, NB, four grandchildren: Robert Bell (Marnie) of Vanderhoof, BC, Wendy Griffin (Michael) of Oshawa, ON; Elizabeth and Maureen Wallace both of Miramichi, NB; two great grandchildren: Paige and Drew Griffin and one sister: Elizabeth (Bessie) Scott of Hainesville, NB. Bob is predeceased by: infant son: Donald, granddaughter: Laura Wallace, brother: Merle and sister: Myrtle Bradley. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the R.C.A.F. Following the war he was employed at CFNB Fredericton and in 1948 moved to Newcastle to supervise the installation of radio station CKMR and managed the radio station until 1970 and then worked at North Shore Construction until his retirement in 1989. Robert was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Miramichi where he was past warden. He was an avid gardener, loving family man and actively involved in community service. He was past president of Atlantic Association of Broadcasters, past president of the Newcastle Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past master of the Northumberland Lodge #17 F & AM and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Patron of Prince Andrew Chapter # 42 O.E.S., Past President of the Miramichi Highland Society, member of the 254 Wing RCAF, member of the Luxor Shrine Club and of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 Newcastle.
The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM from St. Andrew's Anglican Church with The Ven. Richard Steeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery. In Robert's memory a donation may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Miramichi Branch of Luxor Shrine Club or a Memorial of one's choice.
