Terry R. Fraser, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, July 24th, 2010. Terry was born in Pembroke, Ont., raised in North Bay, Ont., but spent most of his life in Moncton, NB and Sugarloaf, Maine USA. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Catherine Molloy, his son-in-law, Chris Molloy, cherished grandsons, Liam and Cameron of Allison, NB. Terry is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Gordon (Dalton), Elizabeth Wall, Cathy Marmino (Jim), Nancy Peverley (Lyle), and his sisters-in-law, Joyce Fraser, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-five years, Margaret-Ellen (Young) Fraser; his parents, Richard (Dick) T. Fraser and Inez (Duff) Fraser and his brother, Hugh Fraser. Terry was an avid skier and loved deep-sea fishing off of his boats, Pussycat I and Pussycat II out of North Shore PEI and Caraquet NB. In the 1970's, he put NB on the map as one of the world's best fisheries for Giant Bluefin Tuna by catching a World Record 80lb tackle Bluefin Tuna weighing 895 lbs. He founded and was the 1st President of the N.B. Tuna Sportsfishery Association and filmed a Documentary on Tuna Fishing, for Wide World of Sports with Gordie Howe and Bobby Unger. Terry was well known for his involvement in Junior Hockey. He was owner/manager of many teams between 1963 and 1971, including teams such as: Moncton Hawks, Moncton Beavers, Schooner Seals, Alpine Seals and the Shediac Capitals. He was a very good Genealogist and loved discussing his Ottawa Valley roots.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am Saturday, July 31st, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Riverview, NB, with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. Burial/Graveside Service in Pembroke, On., early September. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Society or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, as expressions of sympathy, will be gratefully accepted by the family.
