Maria A. Daigle of Saint John, wife of the late Lionel Daigle, passed away on Tuesday, July, 27, 2010 at the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John. Born on May 30, 1916 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (McAleer) and Peter McCarthy. Maria is survived by her daughter, Catherine Anne Filacio of Prince George, BC; her step-son, Leon Daigle of Saint John; step-daughter, Betty Brown of Saint John; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Maria was predeceased by her first husband, Gerard H. DeLong; second husband, Lionel Daigle; daughter, Maureen Garnett; son, Murray DeLong; sisters, Sister Gertrude McCarthy; Sister Vera McCarthy, and Eileen Bonner.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 1 pm from Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive, Saint John. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
