Martin Frerotte

Martin Jacques Frerotte
November 8, 1958 - July 14, 2010

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving son, brother, father and grandfather and friend- Marty Frerotte in his 51st year following a short battle with cancer. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Brenda (nee Ulm ) for almost 29 years; devoted son of Emile and Doris Frerotte of Assiniboia (formerly of Meyronne); dearest father of Krystal Thorhaug and husband Ryan and son, Kyle; loving and devoted grandfather of Pacey. He is survived by sister Kathy Bergeron (Norman and children Cade and Jynae), brother Miles and brother Robin (Rae amd Trent, Kimberly, Laura), sister Tina Cojocar (Jeff and children Justin, Briget, Meagan); as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents Martin and Elmira Kovar and Madeline (Frerotte) Bennett; also by uncle David (Sunshine) Kovar and aunt Vivian (Miller) Kovar, uncle Richard Kasperski; cousin Dale Bennett; and father-in-law Calvin Ulm. Martin was born in Kincaid and raised on a farm south of Meyronne, SK. He loved farming and ranching and continued to be involved in the farm until just a few years ago. He attended the Meyronne Public School and the Kincaid Central High School. It was during high school that he met the love of his life and to this day cherished his high school sweetheart, Brenda. He continued his education in Moose Jaw and received his journeymen's electrician certificate. Marty was known to some as a workaholic and took exceptional pride in his expertise as an electrician for over 30 years in various areas of Saskatchewan and Alberta. He had a passion for hunting and enjoyed many great trips and memories with his hunting friends. He loved feasting on wild meat with the love of friends and family around him. Company never knew what they might eat when they went to dine with him - it scared some people. He loved the outdoors and yearly planned a hunting expedition with friends. As a long time member of the Assiniboia Wildlife Association, he assisted with many events. Marty loved having visitors at their home and loved to entertain in his beautiful backyard. Marty was creative and with his loving spouse designed a beautiful waterfall and pond for their backyard that will continue to be enjoyed for many years. Like most men, Marty loved his boy toys. He loved trucks, guns and quads, especially his black short box Chevy with a white rollbar. He dedicated himself endlessly to family, friends, community, farming and enjoying life. He spent countless hours helping friends or family or anyone that asked with electrical needs or fencing or chasing cows, for he always wanted to be there for others and he truly was. He was always more than willing to lend a helping hand. You could always count on Marty. He believed in a hard days work every single day of his life. He was well known for his sense of humour, full body laugh and giggle, teasing, generosity, fellowship, compassion and lively spirit which will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life was held at the Prince of Wales Auditorium in Assiniboia, SK, on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at 2 p.m.

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
