We, the family deeply regret to announce the passing of Henry Joseph O'Brien of McLeod's Road, Glace Bay on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Pleasant Bay, May 30, 1935, Henry was the son of the late Joseph and Viola (Timmons) O'Brien.
Henry worked for Devco for over 30 years and worked in collieries 20 and 26.
Henry was an outdoorsman and had a laugh and smile that could fill up a room. He loved to fish and hunt and could be seen on the waters of Margaree or in the forests of Loch Lomond.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Joan; son, Nelson (Marie); and granddaughter, Sabetha. Also left to mourn are Henry's six stepchildren, Reggie, Harold, Wally, Carl, Katherine and Karen along with 12 step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Henry will be held Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall, all are welcome.
