SKATRUD - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mabel Skatrud, age 93, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Swift Current Care Centre. Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Einar; her daughter, Doreen; an infant son; a grandson, Jarrett Skatrud; her parents, Robert & Elizabeth Stout; her brothers, Robert and Sidney; and by her sisters, Edna, Nora and Margaret. She is survived by her son, George (Judy) Skatrud, Swift Current, SK; her daughter, Elsie (Edward) Bowditch, Balgonie, SK; her grandchildren, Leslie (Dean) Ramsell and Kent Skatrud of Innisfail, AB: Jody (Kevin) McLean and Jamie (Amir) Bowditch-Saeed of Toronto, ON; her great-grandchildren, Joseph and Mackenzie Ramsell; a brother, Donald Stout, Burnaby, BC; her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Stout, Medicine Hat, AB, and Bertha Sorlie, Norway: as well as several nieces and nephews. Mom was born on August 10, 1916, in New Brigden, AB, and was united in marriage to our father, Einar Skatrud on November 14, 1939, in Alsask, SK. They resided in the White Bear, SK, district where they farmed until retiring in Regina in 1974. Following the passing of Dad, Mom relocated to Swift Current, SK, where she resided until her passing. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at 2:00 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Chapel, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Kevin Snyder, from East Side Church of God in Swift Current, officiating. Musical selections were brought by Lenore Wentland singing, "Amazing Grace" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus". Honorary pallbearers were "All Those In Attendance". The interment will take place at a later date at the Eston Cemetery, Eston, SK. In lieu of floral tributes, donations made to the Swift Current Care Centre Auxiliary Fund, 700 Aberdeen, St. East, Swift Current, SK, S9H 3E3, would be appreciated by the family.
