It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blaine Franklin Calhoun, of Hanwell NB, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 1, 2010 with his loving family at his side. Blaine was born in McGivney Jct. on August 5, 1940; he was the son of Evelyn (Spencer) and the late Byron Calhoun. Blaine served with the Royal Canadian Artillery for 33 years. He was a passionate member of the Masonic fraternity; past Potentate of Luxor Shriners, where he dedicated his unfading love to serving Shrine kids. He leaves to mourn, his mother Evelyn; his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Wilson) Calhoun; daughter Cheryl (Steven) Gillies; sister Carol (Ian) Sinclair; two grandsons Jason (Lindsay) and Ryan; great grandson Jacob; several nieces nephews, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Byron; daughter Linda Smith and son Brian Calhoun.
Visitation will be held at York Funeral home 302 Brookside Dr., Fredericton, NB, on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010; from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Doug Cosman officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Bank Cemetery. Members of Alexandria Lodge #33 F&AM will be holding a Memorial service at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2010. A service by members of Devon Chapter #37, Order of the Eastern Star will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Luxor Shriner Transportation - Fredericton or a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be made through www.yorkfh.com
