NICKERSON, Donald Chester - passed away peacefully at the Veteran's Unit in Yarmouth on July 26, 2010. Born in 1919, in Carleton, he was the son of the late Roy and Nettie (Allen) Nickerson. Survived by his brother Randall, (Pat); foster brother, Robert Hurlburt; two sons, Elmer (Patsy) and Ron (Gail), both of Ontario; grandchildren, Lori, Shelly (Garth), Ronnie, Craig and Carrie; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Mackenzie. Predeceased by his wife, Edna (Prime); daughter Carol; sisters, Fannie, Annie, Emily and Ester; brothers, Roy, Russell, Vernon, James, Nathaniel and Wallace. The family would like to express their gratitude to his loving and compassionate caregivers at the Veteran's Unit where he has resided for the past 8 years. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held at Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel in Yarmouth at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010, Rev. Donald Moses officiated. Interment followed in Carleton Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
