August 26, 1937 - July 31, 2010. - Died suddenly in Halifax July 31, 2010. Dick graduated from UNB in 1961 with a Bachelor of Engineering and completed his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1967. He was a career employee of NB Power, holding several positions over his 32 plus years; Branch Engineer, Branch Manager (Woodstock) and several Head Office positions until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Canadian Electrical Association with such notable accomplishments as the chair of meetings in Tokyo, Japan. Dick enjoyed retirement avidly reading newspapers; watching the History channel and following news and investment reporting. He also enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach and the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and avoiding playing golf. Friendly to all who he would meet and a faithful attendee of the NB Power alumni coffee group, he had a keen mind and intellect and spent hours passing his knowledge on to his beloved grandsons, friends and family and anyone who would listen. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Rose (Barry), daughter Jill of Ottawa, son Richard (Bonita Sears) of Toronto and beloved "Papa Dick" to grandsons Nolan and Charlie Sullivan. Sisters Flora Jean (Reggie Denoncourt), Joan (Keith Marchildon), and Janet (Wilfred Judson). He is predeceased by his parents (Richard A. Sullivan and Jeanie Whyte Hunter), sisters Jane and Agnes and infant daughter Mary Jo.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 11:00 am. Rev. John Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in the Hermitage Cemetery.
