The death of Verna Thelma (Ward) Trecartin, wife of the late Frank Madison Trecartin, formerly of Grand Bay - Westfield occurred in her 97th year on August 2, 2010 at the Carleton-Kirk Nursing Home. Born in Salisbury, N.B. on March 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Benjamin and Mary Estella (Tait) Ward. Verna was very involved with the Carleton Kirk Church being a life member of the U.C.W., Kirk workers of the Church, and being the first female Elder of the Church. She also held the Golden Chain of the Kings, Daughters, and Sons, a member of the General Hospital Auxiliary, Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, and spent many hours as a volunteer at the hospital. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Lawrence and special son-in-law Hayden of Grand Bay-Westfield, sister Ruby Day of Saint John, three grandchildren, Darren Paul Lawrence, Tanya Marie Brooks, and Christopher Allen Lawrence, seven great-grandchildren, Kate-Lyn, Brandon, Courtney, Amanda, Cameron, Alyssa, and Ashley, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Frank, she was predeceased by sisters Viva Carson, Jessie Burnett, Ardella Wortman, and Hazel O'Brien, and brothers Cecil Ward, George Ward, Clarence Ward, Theodore Ward, and Charles Ward.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). With visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 1 pm from Fallsview Chapel. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Following the interment a Time of Fellowship will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre.
