SANFORD, Ruby Lillian - 90, of Brooklyn, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Brooklyn, on January 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Fader) Cunningham. Ruby was a life long and honourary member of St. James Anglican Church, a former Sunday School teacher, Altar Guild member, envelope secretary and ACW secretary. She belonged to the Newport Jolly Seniors and enjoyed her bus trips when she was able to go. Ruby is survived by daughters, Charlotte (Wendell) Worr, Newport Corner; Marilyn Coolen, Fox Point; grandchildren, Alison Worr (Robin Allen), Kathryn (Danny) Phillips, Janine (Jeff) Andersen, Dr. Brian (Lynnette Allan) Coolen and Nicole (Alex) Coulstring. She adored her great-grandchildren, Jenna Brooks, Drew and Kyle Phillips, Justin and Ryley Andersen, Elizabeth and Nikolas Coolen, Logan and Dylan Coulstring. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Scott and a half sister and two half brothers. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Carl; sister, Doris Staples; brother, Arthur and son-in-law, Blair Coolen. Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes - DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors Friday, July 23, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, in St. James Anglican Church, Etter Rd., Brooklyn, Rev. Everett Hill officiated. Interment was held in St. James Anglican Parish Cemetery, with a reception afterward in the parish hall. Family flowers only, by request.
