It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Putt, Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Gordon was born in Newfoundland and was the son of the late Mary Putt Hilchey and grandson of the late Maurice and Sarah of St. John’s, N.L.
Gordon lived most of his life in Cape Breton, and in his earlier years worked in the automotive repair trade in Sydney. In 1998, following an illness, Gordon came to join a family of friends at the Mayfair Guest Home where his charming sense of humour and loving personality added much happiness to all at his new home.
Gordon is survived by his son, Maurice Putt; his daughter, Cheryl Fowlow, both of Ontario; stepbrothers, Raymond, Wayne, Wilson, Ralph, Charlie, stepsisters, Etta and June, uncle, Kevin, and aunts, Joan and Kathleen.
Gordon is also survived and will be forever remembered by his special friends, Rose and Joe MacEachern, Sheila, and his extended family and the staff of Mayfair Guest Home.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 29 at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow.
Interment at a later date in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Unit.
