The death of George David Helps, loving husband of Chris Helps, occurred on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born 1939 in England, he was the son of the late George and Ann (Slate) Helps.
He worked for many years as a boiler operator for Weyerhaeuser in Grande Prairie, AB. George and Chris lived in Alberta for 30 years before returning to Saint John in January of 2009.
Besides his wife, Chris, he is survived by his children, Catherine Ann Helps of Stoney Plain, AB; David Helps of Grande Prairie, AB; stepchildren, Elaine Ross, Lauralee Hill and Leo (Brenda) Goguen all of Grande Prairie, AB; Cathy Ann Goguen of Saint John; brother, Victor (Judy) Helps, and sister, Valerie (Al) McLean, all of P.E.I.; brother-in-law, Roger Heroux of Quebec; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two nieces and five nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Doreen Heroux, and brother-in-law, Jim McLean.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John (506-646-2424).
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be held in P.E.I. at a later date.
Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
