YUILL (Barnhill), June - 85, Old Barns, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday evening, August 4, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born July 18, 1925, in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Bernice (Charman) Barnhill. June was a member of Old Barns United Church, where she was a member of the UCW and also sang in the church choir. June was a school teacher and taught at various schools in the area. Proud of her Belmont heritage and upbringing, June always enjoyed time spent with family and friends from the community who stopped by for coffee. An avid gardener, she was very proud of her flower gardens and was especially proud of her tomatoes and cucumbers. June was a member of Old Barns Progressive Club and also volunteered with Colchester Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years, following the death of her husband. Special thanks are extended to Trudy MacBurnie who attended to Mom for the last three years and who will continue to look after Mom's dog, Abby. June is survived by her sons, Stephen (Mary-Ann), Old Barns; Barry (Bethe), Onslow; Jeffrey (Patricia), Old Barns; grandchildren, Scott, Merilee, Lee, Craig, Marsha, Hayley, Matthew, Jacqueline, Stewart, Bryce, Derick; great grandchildren, Bianca, Joslyn, Rain, Madeline, Austin, Porter; sisters, Eva (Malcolm) McLean, Janis Harris; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack Yuill; sister, Nan (Sterling) Feero; brother-in-law, Bryan Harris. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where June's family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2010. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010, in Old Barns United Church, 2603 Highway 236, Old Barns, Kay Dean, DM, officiating. Interment in Old Barns Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. If so desired, flowers or donations in June's memory to Old Barns United Church, Old Barns Cemetery or Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation are welcomed.
