Keith Fury, age 67, of Little Shemogue, formerly a 30 year resident of Harrisville, passed away suddenly at home on August 6, 2010. Born in Point de Bute, NB, he was a son of the late Alice (Tingley) and the late Winston Fury. Keith was employed by Irving Oil Limited from 1966 to 1985. At that time he became a lessee of Gayton's Product Bar where he enjoyed the friendship and company of the people of Memramcook, until retiring in March 2006. Keith had a long career with the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) starting in 1959 and ending as a Chief Warrant Officer and District Sergeant Major in 1993. He was active in the Anglican Church, Parish of Westmorland both at St Marks and St. Lukes where he assisted with many maintenance projects. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26. Keith was an amazing family man who gave so much of himself to everyone. He always lived everyday to the fullest and touched the lives of those around him - all who knew him were truly blessed. Keith is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda (Etter); his children, Michael, Delta, BC, Mark (Angie LeBlanc) and Lisa (Peter) Allen both of Point de Bute. "Puppy" is survived by his precious grandchildren, Cameron Fury (12), his basketball and floor hockey partner, Mackenzie Allen (10), his pianist, who learned to walk on her hands like Puppy, Thomas Allen (7), his little buddy, and Grace Allen (3), his little princess. They were the light of his life and brought great enjoyment to him. He is also survived by brothers, Ron, George (Donna), Winston (Marion), Donald, Brian (Sandra), Ken (Sunday). He enjoyed many games of cards with his brothers. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris (Richard) Jones, Gail (Don) Coates, Vera (Mark) Strathearn, Heather Robichaud, Kim (Terry) Bird, and Susan (Duane) Pauley (all of whom loved his stories) and Aunt Ruth Tingley (Nanaimo, BC), brothers-in-law Robert Acton and Wendell Stiles and sister-in-law Jeanette Fury. Keith is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lorna Etter, brother-in-law Stephen (Debi) Etter, sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Bill) Downs, Rosie (Edgar) Landry, Virginia (Austin) Tingley and Lori (Peter) Legassick. Keith is survived by many nieces and nephews and several Godchildren. He also enjoyed the company of his good friends -Tom Landry and Barb Prosser, Christine and Trevor Grant, Gerard (his SkipBo partner) and Kathy Landry, Bob (the last of the three musketeers) and Sandra Lucci, Bill and Norma Bellamy, with whom he enjoyed many games of bridge. He had played countless games of crib with cousin Austin Tingley, including 40 last weekend. He was still making new friends and enjoyed the company of the Leisure Travel Van Group and friends he met in Florida, Mel & Lois Hurdle. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his son Keith William (Chip) in infancy, brother David, sisters, Alma Acton and Marilyn Stiles and sister-in-law, Florence Fury, father-in-law, Donald Etter.
Keith's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St. Sackville with visitation Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Sackville on Tuesday, August 10 2010 at 2 pm. Burial in the St. Mark's Cemetery, Mount Whatley. Sackville Branch # 26 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark's or St. Luke's Anglican Church Cemetery or a charity of the donor's choice gratefully appreciated. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
