It is with heavy hearts that we the family, announce the passing of Marguerite Rumsey, 65 of Queen Street, North Sydney, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, surrounded by her family and friends.
Marg was born in North Sydney, Feb. 23, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Martina (Whalen) Bungay and Harold MacDonald.
Marg was a very loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She had such a beautiful smile and love of life that drew all of us near to her. Marg was married to her best friend James Kenneth Rumsey on Oct. 16, 1971. She enjoyed her career in nursing, graduating in 1964 as a CNA. She worked in a number of hospitals, as Marg and Ken travelled around the world for Ken's work in the air force. She decided to leave nursing to pursue another passion, their four beautiful children. Marg loved to play cards and darts. She was always ready for anything and nothing was ever too much trouble.
We will miss your caring and thoughtful heart. As in the poem Footprints, you've carried us so many times, now we will carry you in our hearts forever and our memories of you as footprints traveling next to us each and every day. We love you.
Marg is survived by her sons, James 'Jim' and Jamie Lee; daughters, Sara (Jim) MacLean and Natalie. She was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, her little angels, Morgan and Makenna Rumsey. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan (Allan) Jessome, North Sydney, Sandra (Bruce) Campney, Ontario, Thelma (Clayton) Reashore, North Sydney; also her dear friend and companion, Eric Long; brother-in-law, Freddy (Frederick) Rumsey; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Kenneth 'Ken' Rumsey on Oct. 16, 1991, her father, Harold MacDonald (1973), her mother, Martina (Whalen) Bungay (2003), by her stepfather, Harold Bungay (1994) and by two sisters Yvonne (1948) and Dianne (1948).
Visitation for Marg will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Marg's remains will then be transferred to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Dr., Halifax, where visitation will be held Wednesday from 12-2 p.m., followed by grave side committal service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville, where she will be buried next to her husband Ken.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Online condolences may be sent to info@wjdooley.com.
