Thornton "Sonny" Skidmore, age 70, of Amherst, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Vernon and Nora (Antel) Skidmore.
Sonny will be dearly missed by his wife of 20 years Gloria Burke, Amherst; sons; Mark (Mary), Calgary, AB, Greg (Sherry), Creston, BC, and Jason (Allison), Calgary, AB; step daughter Susan (Mike) Edwards, Joggins; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild; siblings, Joan Armstrong, Kentville, NS, Art, Belleville, ON, Eileen, Debert, NS, Carl, New Glasgow, NS.
He was predeceased by his first wife Lillian.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 3 pm, Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
