It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ruth McNeil, 63, of Victoria Mines, on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at home.
Born in Port Howe, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Russell and Jean (Muree) Cameron.
Ruth was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Joseph Church, New Victoria.
She owned and operated a maid cleaning service for over 20 years in Hamilton, Ont. Prior to this she was employed with Maid Convenient and Dominion Glass, also in Hamilton.
Ruth was considered a hard working woman who loved people. She also enjoyed wood working and gardening.
Surviving are her husband, George Fred; daughter, Shelley (Wayne) Conway, Hamilton, Ont.; son, Michael, Victoria Mines; brothers Tom, Peter and Eric Cameron, all of Port Howe, N.S.; sister, Edith (Reg) Graves, Dartmouth, N.S.; grandchildren, Shaun, Kelly, Kyle, Justus, Tyler, Jaxson; great-grandchild, Rocco.
Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by two brothers, Doug and Burt.
Visitation held today (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Ruth will take place Friday, May 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Joseph Church, New Victoria, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Cremation will follow with a luncheon to be held at St. Agnes Centre, Convent Street, New Waterford, immediately after the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
