We the family regret to announce the passing of our dear mother, Dinah Mae Armstrong, on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, four days before her 96th birthday.
She will be sadly missed forever by all her family and friends and all who knew her.
Mae was born in Burin, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Snow.
Mae is survived by her sons, Bill (Gerald), with whom she lived with the last 13 years, Ray (Joanne); her daughter-in-law, Florence ‘Floss’ (Sheldon) Chant; her grandchildren, Allen, Kevin, Aaron, Meredith, Raylene and Lisa; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Eileen Snow Clements; her very loyal friends, Donnie and Junior; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mae was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug, sons, Doug and Gordon, her siblings, Flossie, Stan, Anne, Etta ‘Ethel’, Bill and Hayward.
Mae worked at many jobs but probably will be remembered best for her smile at Woolco and Fred’s Creamery.
Visitation will be held (today) Thursday, May 28 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 29 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating. Interment to take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Reception to follow at funeral home.
Donations may be to any charitable foundation.
