The passing of Helen Miriam McKay, wife of the late Neill McKinnon McKay, occurred Tuesday August 10, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born July 16, 1918 at Hawkshaw, N.B., she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Palmer) Simmons. Helen was a member of the Barkers Point Half Century Club and was the Secretary Treasurer for the club for many years. Helen is survived by her daughter Margaret Toner (Burton) of Harvey, N.B.; four sons, Brian McKay (Mary Lou-deceased) of Fredericton, Lawrence McKay (Moira) of Whitehorse, Yukon, David McKay (Sharon) of Fredericton and Trevor McKay (Patricia) of Fredericton; nine grandchildren, Janet Barker (Jude), Kevin Judd (Maureen), Danny McKay, Noel McKay, Jennifer Craig, Jamie Craig, Barb McCullough (Brad), Bev Wood (Andrew), Neill McKay (Kim) and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Neill M. McKay, infant daughter Helen Elizabeth McKay, grandson Michael Billard and a sister Grace Libby.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating. Interment will be private.
