The passing of James "Jim" Adam Elliott, husband of Ruth (Powell) Elliott of Fredericton, NB, occurred on August 11, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 22, 1924 in East Branch, Kent County, NB, he was a son of the late Robert and Alice (Stothart) Elliott. Jim served in the Second World War with the Twelfth Manitoba Dragoons and served overseas from 1944 to 1945. He was the Service Manager Wallace Equipment (formally Barker Equipment Ltd). Jim was a member of Gibson Memorial United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, Fredericton. He was a volunteer for the Barkers Point Fire Department and enjoyed being in the Elm Tree Square Dance Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Heather Harding (Gary) of Fredericton, NB, Wendy Leger (Peter) of Saint John, NB, Joy Thomas (Robert) of Fredericton, NB and Gwen Walker (Daryl) of Fredericton, NB; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Robert Elliott (Pat) of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law, Clement Powell (Marilyn) of Sussex, NB; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home Ltd., 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday August 14, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Gibson Memorial United Church on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 2pm with Rev. David officiating. Pallbearers are Gary Harding, Peter Leger, Robert Thomas, Daryl DeLong, James Thomas and Greg Harding. Interment will take place at Sunny Bank Cemetery.
