HISCOCK, Hilda Blanche (Moulton)- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Hilda, aged 83, at her daughter's residence in Halifax, NS on August 10, 2010. Predeceased by her loving husband Harold in 1990. Left to celebrate her life are daughters Maizie (Irving Letto) with whom she currently resided, Ann (Phillip Daniel), sons Don (Cathy) and Charlie (Mary); Grandchildren Stacey (Bern) Jacobs, Lisa Letto, Jason (Renee) Letto, Kurt and Anna Buchheit, Tim and Katie Hiscock and their mother Elizabeth Horwood, Matthew and Rebecca Hiscock; Great-grandchildren Cogan, Ben and Kimberly Jacobs, Bridget Letto; sister Maizie Carter and family, Topsail; brother Frank (Lottie) Moulton and family, Halifax; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Hilda was proud of and loved her family and a generous giver to all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Hilda was born and educated in Burgeo and worked as a telegrapher with the Post Office. During WWII she was transferred to Winterton, T.B. where she met and married Harold. The family moved to St. John's in 1950, where she and Harold were club stewards at the Crows Nest Officers Club for over 20 years. Since 2005, Hilda lived with Maizie and Irving in Indian Harbour and then Halifax. Hilda was a gifted and humorous storyteller. She loved to play cards, crochet, play the piano, shop and spend time with her special canine companion Kaycee.
At Hilda's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew's Church, Indian Harbour NS on Saturday, August 14th at 2 pm and at St. Mark's Church, Logy Bay Road, St. John's NL on Thursday, August 19th at 2 pm.
No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Church, Indian Harbour, 9141 Peggy's Cove Road, NS B3Z 3N4 or St Mark's Church, 203 Logy Bay Road, St. John's.
