McKENZIE, Cecil Desmond - 85, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday evening, August 13, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born September 25, 1924, in Selma, Hants County, he was a son of the late Daniel and Ruby (Corbett) McKenzie. Cecil attended Faith Baptist Church, Great Village, and worked with Lattimer Construction and Department of Transportation. An avid traveler he loved going camping on "The Bus". He also enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and tinkering. He was a "jack of all trades" who assured you whatever he was working on was fixed when he exclaimed, "That's good enough for now!" Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Muriel Ella (Spence); children, Larry (Linda) Spence, Masstown; Judy McKenzie, Alberta; Vernon McKenzie, Saskatchewan; Marilyn (Curtis) Adams, Newfoundland; Marvin McKenzie, Saskatchewan; Barbara (Stanley) Bryanton, Lower Debert; Hugh McKenzie, British Columbia; Patsy (Kenny) Smith, Great Village; Brian (Carolyn) McKenzie, Ontario; Victor (Dianna) McKenzie, Debert; Melvin McKenzie, Alberta; Glen (Angie) McKenzie, British Columbia; sister, Pearl Burns, Sydney; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ida; twin sisters, Elsie and Greta; brothers, Scott, Melvin, Wilson, Frank, William. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Gary Curtis, Palliative Care Team and Cecil's "special nurses" from the VON. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, in Faith Baptist Church, 38 Station Road, Great Village, Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment in Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Cecil's memory to VON or SPCA are welcomed.
