Richard (Dick) Nelson of Saint John passed away unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 21, 2010. Born in Saint John in 1940, son of the late Ivan and Hilda (Ricker) Nelson. He was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where he served on Vestry, as Warden, was a member of the St. Joseph's Guild and the praise band "Faithful". He was an active Cursillista and was a member of the Saint John Naturalists' Club. He operated Rick's Small Boat Shop, Spruce Lake. He is survived by his wife Ngaire (Howard) of 45 years, daughter, Susan of Vancouver; sons, Donald (Louise), Scott , step-grandchildren; Jonathan and Samantha all of Saint John, brother, William (Nancy) of Saint John, sisters, Rhoda Howard of Kingston ON, Marjorie (Bart) Graham, Donna (Bill) Godfrey, sisters-in-law, Wanda and Jackie all of Saint John as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brothers, Royden, Murray and Everett.
Funeral services entrusted to Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701). Memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manawagonish Road. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
