It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom and wife, Helga Schilasky, on August 20, 2010.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Claus, son Rolf, daughter-in-law Patti, daughter Rita, son-in-law Neal, five grandchildren Karl, Erik, Hayden, Ivyanna, & Callie, brother Peter and sister Brigette and their families in Germany.
Helga was born in Germany in 1935 and grew up in the same neighborhood as her husband until she was nine years old. Helga and Claus reconnected after World War II and got married in 1958 in Germany and then moved to Canada shortly thereafter.
They arrived in Kamloops in 1959 and worked together to build up their flooring business until 1998 when they sold it. Helga spend many years active with the Soroptomists and Lady Lions. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and quilting. She had a real flare and passion for making unique and beautiful quilts.
