Florence Lavinia McKim age 96 of Amherst passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S.
Born August 16, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Robert and Lavinia Ellen (Purdy) McKim.
She lived in Halifax for several years before coming to Amherst in 1955. Florence attended First Baptist Church, Amherst and was a member of the W.M.S.
She worked as a clerk at the Sally Shop and later at Irene's.
After retirement she worked with the Amherst Red Cross and was a member of the Garden Club.
Florence is survived her sister Annie Luddington of Guysborough a nephew Carl (Shirley) Luddington of New Harbour, N.S., great nephews William (Joanna), Samuel (Jolene) and Robert (Holly) and great great nephew Jake Luddington of Westville great great niece Jordon Dawn Luddington of Antigonish, step niece Helen (Douglas) Sangster and family of New Harbour and step nephew Keith (Bessie) Luddington and their family all of Goldborough.
She was predeceased by her sister Beatrice McKim.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst from 1 -2 p.m. followed by a graveside service in the Eaton Cemetery, Pugwash Junction at 3:30 p.m.
Rev. Byron Corkum will officiate.
Donations in Florence's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, Amherst.
